No matter how hard things get, it is important we remind ourselves of the blessings we have been bestowed with.

be grateful for when you are feeling low

We all have our good days when we feel invincible. Everything goes just right and it seems as if there is not an ounce of misery in the world. And then there are days when no matter how hard you try, everything just seems to go wrong. It does not matter how much you try to convince yourself, there is a sinking feeling in your stomach that just won’t go away and you feel as if you are trapped in your life.

On these days, it is hard to get out of bed and face the world. No matter how hard things get, it is important we remind ourselves of the blessings we have been bestowed with. Here are a few simple things you can be grateful for when you are feeling low and down;

You Woke Up This Morning

Each new day means new opportunities and endless possibilities. Be grateful you woke up this morning and that you are alive. You still have the chance to turn things around and make the best of your life. Be grateful that you are alive and healthy. There is so much life has to offer. You just need to be able to see it.

You Have People Who Care About You

When things get rough, remember your friends and family. Do you have a loving mother who stays up late when you do not make it home on time or a friend who always has your back? The love you feel from the people around you is indeed a blessing. Seek help from those who are close to you. Their support will guide you through the darkest times and you will be able to push yourself to be the best you can be.

You Are Able To Enjoy the Little Pleasure of Life

Have you ever taken the time to notice the beauty that surrounds you? Be thankful for all the simple pleasure life offers. The calm weather, the beautiful sunrise, or the laughter of a friend, these are all simple pleasures in life you can be grateful for.

The Challenges You Have Encountered

Life is filled with challenges and every day we find ourselves dealing with a new struggle. Be grateful for all the battles you have won and all the challenges you have encountered. All these setbacks are what have made you who you are today.

Being Able To Access the Internet

You are reading this just because you have access to the internet. The internet has revolutionized our world. You no longer have to join classes or visit the library to read books. All the information you need is a few clicks from you. Be thankful you have access to the internet as it allows you to connect with people who are far and wide. The Happiness Effect

HappinessWhat is the happiness effect? Happiness. Everyone wants it. There’s no denying that. Some people seem to have it more than others. Why is that? It’s because they care about being happy and are mindful of it. Happiness will come to people who want it. If you are unhappy it is a sign that you are not open to the thought it. What can you do to change this attitude? Be more aware of how you feel. I guarantee that if you do, the happiness effect will take over your life in a positive way.

Happiness Attracts Positive People

By being genuinely happy, more people will flock to you. They will sense the enthusiasm in your life and want to be surrounded by that positive energy. People do not want to hang around someone who is mopey and constantly complaining about their life. It brings each other down. You want to be with others who are vibrant and speak positively of their environment and the life they lead. If you find yourself around negative personalities, it might rub off on you. Analyze your social groups of friends and limit your engagement with those you deem bad seeds because they can have a detrimental effect on your happiness.

Happiness Makes You Grateful

Happy people are generally those of us aware of the concept of gratitude. They appreciate the life they have been given and do not take things for granted. They are aware of how lucky they are and set aside time to recognize this fact. If you want to be happy, learn to accept what you have in the here and now. Whatever stresses or desires you may have for the future, set it aside and feel the love and comforts you have in the current state. Gratitude will shift your mindset in a positive direction and in turn will make you happier.

Happiness Boosts Your Confidence

When you are happy, you emit confidence. People see you as having a stable life and sure of themselves. I know when I go to a social setting and see people with wide smiles, they are having a great time and soaking the moment in. They display confidence when speaking to others because they do not fear being judged. Happiness raises your self-esteem and makes you feel proud of all the good qualities you have. If you lack confidence, then it might mean you are lacking happiness as well, so learn to be happy with who you are.

I love seeing positive energy anywhere I go. We all want each other to be enthusiastic about their lives and want to help get each other to that state of happiness we all deserve. There is far too much negative energy in this world and no one wants to see people fail. Think about all the positive effects that being happy can have on your life and you’ll see that it is a worthwhile investment to implement into your life.

How Medical Problems Can Plague Your Life

HearthMy life is plagued with medical problems and I feel no one understands what I go through. I have problems breathing, bowel issues, and a hearing deficit. I’m only in my twenties. Issues with your health can take a toll on your mental well being and I sympathize with anyone who shares the same concerns. If you are battling a chronic illness, there are things you can do to ease your anxiety and make yourself feel better.

Having to face constant medical issues raises several concerns. One, it creates anxiety when you know that there is something wrong with your body and it seems like no treatment is helping. You grow fearful that you will have to deal with this for the rest of your life. Not only will you be constantly thinking about your health but you be seeing your doctors more often which can affect you financially. Second, you become paranoid that your health can take a turn for the worst. You’re afraid that this illness can lead to a more serious issue and you won’t be able to recover. It causes irrational thoughts and can get you into a depressive state of mind.

Concerns for your health warrants a visit to medical professionals when it becomes overwhelming. When an issue has been plaguing you take the necessary steps to seek out specialists who can assist you. Use resources such as Yelp and your network of friends and family to find the best doctor. Don’t be afraid to get second opinions from professionals in the area who may suggest a different treatment plan than the one you may already be on. We have access to an array of professionals that can remedy our symptoms, but this won’t be possible if you do not take action. Letting the problems persist or failing to make health a priority can have a snowball effect on your mind.

Once you have a plan in place and you are being treated, there are additional things you can do to make you less anxious. Meditation, for example, can be incredibly soothing. By focusing on your breath and clearing your head you become less focused on the symptoms you are experiencing. Allow the meditation to calm your mind.

In addition to meditation, practicing gratitude is essential. By recognizing that you have been given another chance to live life, you can look at things from a more optimistic perspective. Although you are suffering, be mindful that you’ve been given another day to seek help and experience the wonders of this world. You live another day to potentially see a cure or stronger treatments. You must be mindful that with every new day, your chance of curing you illness increases.

Being plagued with symptoms on a regular basis can cause strife in our life. We have to be patient and learn to deal with everything affecting us. Acknowledge that you’ve been given the short end of the stick but don’t let it get you down and affect your mental well being. Staying positive during these hard times can have a huge impact on how you live with your symptoms and potentially one day alleviate it once and for all.

Understand The Vastness of Our Universe

Vast UniverseSaying the universe is huge would be an understatement. There is no word in the dictionary that can describe its vastness. The universe is constantly expanding and becoming impossible to accurately measure. When you start to comprehend its size, you start to value the importance of leaving a legacy and having an impact on the world in which we live, because, in the end, we are insignificant.

There are sources on the internet that attempt to describe the size of the universe. Scientists have said that there are more stars in our universe than every single grain of sand on all of the beaches on Earth. There is a diagram that demonstrates the scale of our sun in comparison to larger celestial objects. Our sun, which is huge when compared to Earth, is like a molecule when placed next to other stars. The largest star is nearly 2100 times the radius of our sun. In addition, we measure our universe in light years, which is the amount of time it takes light to reach its location. Some places in our universe is more than 10,000 light years away and in fact, because of our expanding universe, there are some things we have not discovered because we can not physically it since the light has not reached us yet. In fact, our planet has been around for about 4.5 billion years and light from back then is finally reaching us now. Upon realizing this, I find that we are smaller than a speck of dust when compared to everything else.

The size of the universe puts life into perspective. There is much more out of life than to worry about your anxieties. Let go of the problems you face and be amazed by the wonders of the world in which you live. Be imaginative and be proud of your place in this universe. Use this time to become mindful of everything you’ve been given. In fact, if Earth is the only planet that harbors life, then be grateful for your opportunities and don’t take life for granted.

Because of the size of the universe, the fear of feeling insignificant can arise. We might come to the conclusion that our actions do not matter. You may feel that what you do in your daily life will have little impact. But it is important to not limit your thinking in this manner. Be determined and use the time you have on Earth to leave a legacy. Do something good for humanity and make people remember you for your dedication and efforts. Take the initiative to see how you can secure your place in history and create long lasting impact.

Every time I revisit and research the scale of the universe, I am still blown away. It is beyond scientific measurement. I find I am grateful for existing and able to enjoy the wonders of being part of this world. It allows me to realize that my problems are insignificant. This makes me more patient in grocery lines, less anxious about problems plaguing my life, and I understand the value of making the most out of my time here. Go and study the universe and discover your own personal place on this planet.

How Your Ego Can Be Your Downfall

Huge ego or grateful? We live in a society with a lot of talented people. They come from all walks of life and have special skills to contribute to our communities. But sometimes you run into a person who you can’t wait to get away from. They convey an attitude that shows dominance over others and think they can do no wrong. These are people with huge egos and are unable to realize how it is hurting them. When you become successful make sure that you remain grateful for the life you’ve been given and don’t let it get to your head. Do not give in to your ego because it can be your downfall.

People with huge egos have unattractive personalities. They get pleasure off of proving others wrong. They believe they are all-knowing when they are only good at faking it. They suck up to supervisors, gossip and demean others in conversations. They feel invincible and think they can get away with doing anything as they please with no regards to anyone else.

Egotistical men and women have this assertion that they can do everything alone in life. These are the people who refuse to ask for help even though they are failing at their task. They refuse to give up their pride by asking for help and see it as a sign of defeat.

There is a degree of cockiness that comes with having huge egos. Having confidence and knowing you will be successful is a positive quality but it can sometimes be over the top. Everyone should not believe they are invincible because no one truly is. You need to be aware that there will be moments when you will face hardships and endure difficult moments. Having the mindset that everything will go perfectly shows that you are not being truthful to yourself and your journey and are underestimating how challenging it will become.

In our society, people with huge egos are looked down upon. Huge egos rub people the wrong way. Their joy and success is dependent on making others feel bad. This hurts them in their social connections with their peers and family. Who wants to be around someone that gives off negative perceptions? It’s unappealing to be around. We don’t want to be associated with it because we fear that we may end up developing a huge ego as well if we were to keep hanging out with them.

Finally, egotistical people are quick to blame others and avoid taking ownership for their actions. If a mistake was made, they can’t possibly think it was a result of what they did. They think that it must have been someone else that dropped the ball and will proceed to point others in that direction. This is an awful working habit and one that will cause them to lose peers and friendships.

Encountering these huge personalities will open your eyes to what you should not become. People want personalities that are enjoyable to be around and supportive of one another. We don’t want to hang out with others who are willing to trash us and think too highly of themselves. Be aware of the egos in your community and be conscience to not spend time with them because it can affect you negatively. If you ever find your ego growing, be aware and learn to shut it down. Having a huge ego will only hurt you and will never help you in your path to success.

What To Do When You Want to Be Mean

You want to be mean? Think twice. We are not perfect characters in this society. There will be times when you find yourself frustrated at a situation and may feel a little overwhelmed. There could be situations that you encounter where you feel that the whole world is pitted against you and in those moments you want to react naturally; angry and stressed out.

Anger affects even the most passive characters. It is an emotion that is difficult to control because in the moment, you lose your sense of self. You act irrational due to anger and in the process; can end up hurting someone physically or mentally. The aftermath can be just as painful because you will experience the fallout from your irrational decisions. People hurt by your words during your moments of rage may not want to associate with you further. If physical violence was involved then you find yourself in legal trouble as well as potentially medical trouble. With all of these drawbacks to anger and rage, one must learn how to cope with it, especially if it were to arise again.

As a writer of this blog, I have a huge temper. I am still working on fixing my flaws and learning how to deal with my frustrations when it hits me. Anger can blind us at random moments and even though we try to be as mindful, these negative thoughts can overcome us.

The strongest way of nipping anger and rage is through the practice of being mindful. When you start to feel frustrated and stressed at a situation, acknowledge the feeling but don’t act on it. Realize the feeling will pass and although you are innately freaking out, don’t let it get to you. During this time, use your judgment to figure out the solution to the problem. In the end, keep at the back of your mind that the problems that are happening now, will not exist later down the road. As a result, it is no point to act angry and be frantic because ultimately it won’t matter.

Acknowledge the fact that everyone is human and make mistakes. Learn to love people for their attempt at their work and recognize that not everyone will do it exactly as you would. Everyone is independent and have a certain style of doing things their way. If you embrace the uniqueness of each individual, you learn to cope with his or her working ethics. If they made a mistake, be proud that they tried and encourage them to remedy the situation, rather than put them down.

Meditation works wonders in anger management. The practice keeps you focused and grounded in dealing with anger. You learn to control the speed of your breath and will feel calmer. Do this every morning so that you can use it when you start to feel stressed and overwhelmed by the things in life. Don’t let anger define you.

Anger is one of the worst emotions to handle when it boils down to it. I find it to be crippling in relationships and makes you feel guilty in the aftermath. To bypass the troubles that anger brings you, you need to recognize how short this feeling will last and whether it is worth it to pursue it. Anger is trouble and you know that you have what it takes to overcome trouble.

Gratitude Is The Key To A Fulfilling Life

GratitudeLet’s face it. We live in a world that forgets how to be grateful. We always want more materialistic items and we become bummed out if we do not have the means to get such items. We feel discontent with the way we live our life and we complain about it and are hard on ourselves. When stress enters our lives we panic and struggle to understand how to deal with the emotions that follows. Unfortunately, as much as we try to maintain an optimistic attitude about life, we can’t seem to shake off the troubles that come our way. Look, I understand the struggles and the hardships that may be affecting you, but if you read any personal development blog or book, there is one key concept that can lay the foundation to you having a more fulfilling and happy life: gratitude.

Gratitude is the ultimate truth. Being grateful is a way of living and how all of us should live our lives. But sometimes we falter and fail to be grateful. Maintaining a sense of gratitude helps us stay grounded and makes us mindful of our circumstances. It prevents us from overreacting when things go awry.

The concept of gratitude is simple: be appreciative of what you have in the here and now. By focusing on all the good things you have in your life; things that may not be accessible to other parts of this world, you gain some perspective on what truly matters. Sure it may be nice to have all these worldly possessions and be rich but in the end, those possessions and being rich will not define who you are and will not ultimately make you happy.

People often say that they do not have anything to be grateful for and I chuckle at the remark. If for one, you are able to read the text on this page, then there are several things happening. Not only are you alive, with another day under your belt to help you work towards your dream, but also you are able to see; are literate; and have access to technology that allows you to read this text. Some people on this planet are blind; have never studied English or understand literature. An abundant of people has never laid eyes on a computer. I’m sure if they could, they would trade places with you in a heartbeat.

We forget about gratitude when we are hurt and things do not go our way. It’s okay to be in pain and to feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. But when you feel in such a way, take the time to acknowledge the pain and come to the realization that it is not the end of the world. Be mindful of the fact that things could be much worse than it is. Breathe and recognize all the wonderful things that have been allowed into your life.

One thing I do to make me more mindful of gratitude is to have a gratitude journal. Every morning, after you wake and freshen up, take out the journal and write one sentence declaring anything that you are grateful for. Do this for a week, then a month, and then a year. It’ll open your eyes to everything you have going on in your life and you’ll be amazed at the wonders of the world.

Gratitude is the ultimate key to life and will be the foundation of any other personal development concept that you learn over time. Being appreciative of what you have been given and being present in your environment and the life you currently have, will make you more happy and content. In the end that’s what we want; happiness, and the first step will come with learning how to apply gratitude into our lives.
